What is Industrial Bolting?
The term “industrial bolting” covers a broad range of sectors and applications however, it can be boiled down into the following definition: Industrial bolting is the process of loosening or tightening nuts and bolts on any industrial application.
Industrial bolting tools are commonly used in the following sectors:
- Upstream and downstream oil and gas
- Petrochemical and chemical
- Power generation and wind power
- Ship building
- Heavy and civil engineering
The use of hydraulic torque wrenches is important in these sectors because the tools can produce far more torque than a manual wrench ever could. They are also accurate, generally to within three percent, ensuring the integrity of the joint and avoiding leaks.
Our industrial bolting specialists are on hand to assist you with correct tool selection and application engineering services to ensure you have exactly the right tool for the job.
Hydraulic Torque Wrenches
A hydraulic torque wrench consists of a hydraulic cylinder, drive plates and a ratchet. All tools are driven by the same hydraulic pump which can be pneumatically or electrically powered. The pump is regulated and produces hydraulic oil pressure of up to ten thousand ponds per square inch. The pump drives the hydraulic torque wrench via high pressure hoses and the pressure output from the pump, converts to torque at the tool.
Hydraulic torque wrenches come in two basic types, square drive, and low clearance. The square drive tools are used with impact sockets and the low clearance tools have interchangeable hex cassettes enabling them to access low clearance applications.
We provide only the highest quality and best known makes of industrial bolting tool for hire. Each and every tool is inspected, serviced and repaired after every rental, and every individual tool is calibrated and certified once a year to industry standards.
