Thompson Group Presents Bespoke Safety Course to the HSE
The Thompson Group has welcomed a delegation of HSE inspectors and research scientists to their headquarters in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne for a unique seminar. The delegation attended a bespoke course delivered by members of the Thompson Group with extensive experience in industrial power tools and Hand, Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). John and Adam Thompson and Kris Simpson introduced the delegates to the finer intricacies of industrial power tool design and maintenance, the effects these can have upon HAVS and how the risks can be reduced and in some cases eliminated.
Co-founder and Managing Director of Thompson Power Tool Services, John Thompson commented “the idea of this seminar was to provide the delegates with the information and experience necessary to be able to assist and advise companies facing the challenges of HAVS. We were delighted to be given the opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with the HSE and if it plays a small part in reducing the occurrences of this debilitating condition then it is a job well done as far as I’m concerned.”
As well as theory, the delegates had the opportunity for some hands-on practical experience tightening HGV wheel nuts with
a nut runner, helping them appreciate the reduction in vibration compared to other methods used.
